Autodesk is one of leading companies working in the field of digital design software, and stands to be a major player in the emerging 3D printing and manufacturing field. Jeff Kowalski, Chief Technology Office at Autodesk, recently talked with Forbes publisher Rich Karlgaard about how he sees the future of manufacturing being transformed by the growth and development of 3D printing technology.
Kowalski sees the 3D printing revolution following along similar lines to the way digital technology has transformed the publishing and communications world: “When you take a look at the access that was granted to really everybody on the planet by digitization, by computers, we’re going to see that same thing happening now in the material world. Everybody is going to have the means of imagining, designing and creating things right here in the physical world.”
